Microsoft Create
Development + Launch
PROJECT CHALLENGE
In a world increasingly lived between ones and zeros, Microsoft saw an opportunity to bridge the gap between small businesses' budgets and their need for agency-level designs that inspire.
BUSINESS REQUIREMENTS
This meant developing a new bank of UX Writers to work alongside other user experience professionals, software teams, and leadership to create a platform that created a seamless customer experience. This needed to be accomplished ensuring stakeholder goals were achieved.
THE PROCESS
As the senior writer of the digital asset-UX team, I lead a group of four writers. I supported them while developing copy standards and guidance for product metadata, microcopy, and buttons through the strategic use of UX/UI principles.
THE RESULT
Across multi-discipline teams and time zones, the UX writers delivered 18,000+ digital assets in the form of easily discoverable flyers, brochures, social posts, videos, and other media channels. By focusing on creating a tool that puts design tools at the fingertips of even the most beginner user, we were able to make Microsoft Create a tool that is creative, consistent, and always puts the user's needs at the forefront.
Microsoft Product Description
CMS Migration + Copy Refresh
PROJECT CHALLENGE
As the world looks to a future defined by Web 3 and AI integration, Microsoft saw an opportunity to refresh its brand voice and visuals supported by adopting a new content management system built to deliver striking creative with ease.
BUSINESS REQUIREMENTS
Microsoft wanted to modernize its brand across the Microsoft Store without diminishing its position as a reliable and informative source for technology and gaming products. Stakeholders across teams needed to agree on the new direction while working to meet the expedited timeline for the new CMS migration.
THE PROCESS
In my role as Senior Copywriter and Editor, I made extensive updates to the brand voice by working alongside key Microsoft administrators and the UX design to create a tone that is friendly, youthful, narrative, and supports highlighted imagery. Once approved, we made adjustments to character count and technical specification formatting to ensure that wireframes translated from conception to publication in the new CMS.
THE RESULT
The outcome of the month-long sprint to meet the deadline was fun, informative, and conversational copy coupled with attention-grabbing visuals supported by a flexible CMS that allowed for a greater depth of SEO to be built into each Product Description Page.
